ECO - utility settings per lot - how does it work?

I just got aware that we can make some settings by shift-clicking the mailbox. I need soke help understanding those settings, as the info given is rather limited.

Each of consumption and production can be set for power, water and more, as "small", "medium", or "large". The pie menu does not tell what setting is already active, but I assume it's "medium" on all as I never changed them. When I change one to large it still doesn't say so, though. Each has a number - like "(50)" - and I'm only guessing it refers to simoleons per day, but it could also be a percentage scale. They could have included § or % without needing to go the extra mile.

So, I'm basically searching info on how I can use this to affect the game. Did anyone play around with those settings? Do they actually affect the bills, or is it more for how much water/power etc is needed to meet the daily living - hopefully depending on number of household members?

I'd like to know more about this. Glad to discover it (thanks to another simmer in another thread). Wishing these settings were per hood or world, cause I don't plan adjusting my 70 played houses individually anytime soon, but might do so if I understand the stuff ;)

It's to add utility points to your home. Add positive and you have utility surplus (use them without raising your bills, to be able to use plumbing and electronics off-the-grid, or sell them for money) or add negative and you'll see your utility bills go up.

For example, if you choose water positive 50 (large), you'll get 50 water utility points to be used by plumbing. These stack, so click on it 5 times and you'll get 250 water utility points.
  • @EgonVM : Thank you, I could not figure out what it was doing. It didn't seem to be a charge at the time, but I was confused.

Thanks! I could implement this in some way top determine what hoods shall indirectly benefit from lower taxes then. I already have a vague political system in my game, this might be a nifty tool.
