I'd like to know how to approach this too.
For some of my households it's fine to level up handiness and upgrade their items so they use less water/energy. But for others, it's not something I can or want to spend time on.
I thought there would be a button, like for lifestyles, to turn off the Ecoprint for the whole game. Because as it is now, I can see this becoming really annoying.
