I have done this cheat multiple times and I've noticed otherwise. It immediately does the application process (your sim will receive the acceptance letter through mail) and depending on your sim's skills you can also get a distinguished degree. Though one thing you can't do is boosting the chances (with money, fame, or alumni connections).
