Ep's vs Gp's

So, personally, I own every single EP, but I don't own every single GP. Vampires is the only GP that I could argue feels like an expansion pack, because it comes with a whole new gameplay set with a new world and LOTS of build mode items, but other than that, I just can't see GPs outperforming expansion packs.

I don't own every GP, and it's just because it's too narrow of a focus for me to want them. I have parenthood and vampires, but I can't see myself enjoying dine out or spa day or anything else like that. I feel like with expansion packs, even if you don't like certain aspects, there's just so much stuff included in them that you'll find something you enjoy.

Like with Get Together, I've hardly ever used a club during my entire gameplay but I use the European architecture build objects as well as play in Windenburg religiously. It's my favourite world. Same with City Living; I might not go to the festivals often but it seems like every day I'm discovering a new clothing or furniture item from the pack that I never saw before, and then I fall in love.

I think for people who can safely afford the price tag of EPs (they are pretty pricey), they're worth it.

I've been surprised with how much I do get out of the game packs. But there's still no competing with the change to my game that City Living, Get Together, and Seasons have brought.

Expansions have more, sure. But they always end up disappointing in some way, GPs have always delivered what they promised and made the most of their theme.

Exapansion packs because MORE! But honestly, I don't care what they call a pack (expansion, game, stuff), it's all just MORE!

GPs have added a lot to my game, but in terms of volume, EPs still have added much more. I have to say though that the GPs narrowly focused on a theme and did it really well, so it's more of a quality over quantity thing for them.

To me, some EP's didn't execute their theme well and/or their features weren't big enough, as opposed to most of the GP's. Also, some GP's add big gameplay features like EP's, but are cheaper. Sims 4 EP's lack, and I mean LACK content, and variety of content. In a TS3 EP you'd get multiple new gameplay features, on TS4 you only get one, two max. Seasons was one of the exceptions where we got multiple new gameplay features, weather, holidays, updated gardening, and for the first time on the sims, scouting, for kids and teens, also the first children's after school activity.

I buy both but I really love one main theme done indepth like the gps offer.

If for some reason a gp and an ep came out at the same time - I would buy the gp first as I love the degree of depth and single subject the gps focus on over the ep that throws a lot of sometimes random and less thought out items. I never feel like a gp is missing something - in fact I generally am amazed at how deep it covers it's theme - where as the eps are nice but it's like the overall idea of the pack sort of get lost in all the directions it spreads out in. Like CL for instance - it is supposed to be about living in the city - but I have to ask myself - where is the actual city these sims live in. Not a city store to be found - not an office building or town hall - no police or fire department - where the heck is there a city like this I ask myself because in truth it is an apartment living pack surround by tall buildings we cannot venture into. There is no city as we know cities. This bugs me to no end as nothing what makes a city - a city - exists in the ep called City Living. It has a tiny aspect of a city having a festival now and then but other than that how is this City living?

I feel if it had been a gp called The City - we'd have actually gotten a city....

Game packs have more game play depth, something TS4 really needs.
I wish they would cut out stuff packs and have a team to add an extra Game Pack or two for the year.

I like Expansion Packs, they do add a TON of new things/gameplay, but I get most excited for gamepack anncouncements. They go so in depth on one area, that I love it! LOVE Dine Out and Spa Day, the objects they added and the small but substantial changes they add to my game are the best. I don't want vampires in my game, but I admire how well they did with them. Parenthood and Jungle Adventure are next on my list.
