- I remember trying to get the original Sims game to work on my Windows 7 PC a couple years ago... it took A LOT of effort (and I honestly can't even remember what I needed to do), but I managed to get it working. However, I had to keep messing around with certain things to get it started every time. It wasn't worth the struggle. Especially when I would honestly only play for like an hour at most every time.
I wish EA would release a version of the game that's compatible with today's operating systems. That would be amazing. - @Lustianicia - completely agree and would love to see a compatible version with Windows 7 and Windows 10. I think I remember reading that it was some Windows update that broke the Sims from working on Windows 7 - but I've spent way too much time trying to get it to work and have given up.
- I have a windows 7 too and my sims 1 works just fine. I remember that my brother helped me with installing the game. You should Google it and look for some advice on how to do it cause it's not impossible. Fingers crossed. I hope you'll manage to play it somehow :D!

Probably something you've done several times by now but it doesn't hurt to ask... Have you tried running compatibility mode? I have Sims 1 on my Windows 10 PC and it runs flawlessly after a couple of small optimization tweaks done here and there. - i wish i could be able to play the sims 1. i don't own the game at all :hushed: i wish ea would release the game so people that didn't have the chance to play would get a chance. they have older games on origin right now but why not the sims 1 :heartbreak:
- I own the complete collection but my gaming laptop doesn't have a disc-drive... I feel like with The Sims' 20th anniversary coming up in a couple years, a great way for them to celebrate would be to release the complete collection of The Sims 1 on Origin.

- @Trowicia - Yes I have and unfourtunately I haven't had the luck to get it to work. Thank you for the advice though :)!!
- SimberellaNew SpectatorI have Windows 7 Ultimate and I play Sims 1 on it. The compatibility mode on it is Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and has to be run as Administrator. Windows set that up automatically for me.
The only thing I have to do is delete the Windows Update file KB3086255, otherwise it won't open. I can then open and play the game all day. Windows reinstalls this update every night (at 3 am) after I delete it. Most people just hide that update so it won't install but I prefer to let it install and just delete it when I want to play as I don't play it all the time.
I've never had just a black screen come up though. If I forget to delete that Windows Update file, it just simply tries to open but will stop and close to desktop and never start. It sounds like you may have a different problem; not sure what that can be.
Are you sure you installed the discs in the exact order they came out? Sims 1 is very particular about that. I do remember it was difficult to install as it kept requiring inserting previous discs over and over again as it installed. I really didn't remember having to do that when it first came out but that's what I had to do when installing on Windows 7. - MidnightAura86New SpectatorI know that feeling. I have the sims 1 and all EPs worming great in Windows 10 but it took my husband to tweak it a little. Now it runs great.
