Experiences with Pets & City Living Apartments?

I find it aggravating at times when I have to constantly bring the puppy down to the ground floor or call the grown dog down so that you can then tell them to do their business. At least after they're done, you can always call them back inside! Most apartment dwellers own cats instead.
