Familiar Names

dragon-aldwin, raven-midnight, evil bunny- pixie...

If I make a cat familiar, I'm calling it Simon or Onyx. Salem is far too cliche for me.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks is an old (1971) Disney live action film featuring Angela Lansbury as apprentice witch Eglantine Price. Her cat is Cosmic Creepers - because that's the name he came with.

It's a lot of fun and worth tracking down.

In my headcanon, familiars aren't "pets", they're more like otherworldly demons/spirits/entities. So mine would have names more in line with His Dark Materials or the Bartimaeus Trilogy.

I've got some cat creature Familiars named Vignette, Tarquin, Nyx, Nightshade and Zephyr.

Some others I like are Jynx, Euphraxia, Verbena, Anemone, Periwinkle, and Gobbledegook. I like old words and names, plant names and nonsensical and fantastical words for Familiars. (Apparently I also love names with weird letters like V, X, Q and Z in them, haha.)

@TheSpeaker I love His Dark Materials! There are some great Daemon names in there. I remember a long time ago when The Golden Compass came out, I took a quiz to find my Daemon and I got a type of lynx... or maybe it was an ocelot... who was named Tarquin. I've loved that name ever since.
