Family vs. Lot Names

Hi everyone! Is there a way to stop the game from changing the lot names? I've gone through every world and renamed each lot to correspond with the neighbourhood (i.e 2 Sage Estates Lane) to help me keep track of where lots and families are. I've noticed though that when you click the "info panel" the game uses the family name, and removes the lot name. Is there a way to stop this? Or do I have to continually go back and edit again to match the lot name? I do use mods. I'm actually wondering if it's an MCCC setting I have that is changing it as well. Something like "auto name new households". Any ideas?

I hope this question makes sense. :D

  • The lot name should still be the same, its what you'll see in build mode, but from world view the game will always show the household name who lives there.
You could go to manage households and change the name of the household tho to maybe the address + household name (NOT in CAS just @ the manage households screen)
Thats what will then show up in world view.

  • Hi @ValravnWitch thanks for your response
I have gone through and edited the family names, but it changes them if the family moves out/changes households. I have a feeling I'll have to go through and just edit them as I need be. Thanks!
  • lot name changes when you place lot from library or gallery (to whatever the name is on gallery)

but other than that the name stays as it should, in unmodded game anyway

Does the household name change or what is shown on the world view?
If a household moves out and nobody's living at the lot, then the lot name should show in world view.
If the actual household gets renamed simply by moving, that's not normal.
The only way households change names is if you either manually change them or you move one household in with another of a different name.

I have this problem. You literally have to go through the map and change the Household name to every lot manually, as the game will pick the household name based on whomever. Very confusing for interior design gigs and when you have over like 1000 sims.

The lots change when you download for the gallery or rename when in build mod. Sometimes I change it but it stays the same, and you have to manually change it from the original name, if you like, or the other if changed from a gallery download @simmer_jay
  • I think it works differently than TS3, in case OP used TS3 as reference. Back then the "ground lot" was having the address, and I think it stayed unchanged even if new builds were added there from say gallery. In TS4 I think the lot info follows the lot/build. In my game I adjusted most addresses, and they never reset, but then I never replaced the lot with a different imported build, and my sims rarely move, too.
  • If you don't change the lot name when saving --- I forgot recently and the build showed up as the prior lot name. But, if you make certain to change it during the saving process, it shouldn't revert. At least, that has been my experience. You may wish to repair your game.
