I have an idea if you're willing to play around with moving households instead of strict gameplay gifting mechanics. If you put all the produce in the farmer's inventory, you can temporarily move him into the palace. Once he's there you can drag and drop his inventory to whoever will collect it. Then move the farmer back to his house
If your farmer lives alone and switching households would leave his house empty (or if the palace is full of 8 sims while the farm isn't), you could do it in reverse by having your butler sim move in temporarily to collect the produce, then move back in. If the farmer needs to pay cash rent on top of that, you can also transfer household funds on top of that.
Thanks, that would work fine for now, but it might be a tad tedious in the long term as I was planning to deliver produce every day. But yes, it might be the easiest way. At the moment the farmer is alone, so the Butler could travel to the farm to collect. I was also thinking of having the Butler simply visitng the farm and having "a right to harvest there", but I assume it would cause bad relations if a sim harvest regularly from another household's garden?
Still would love a gifting crate feature, as it could be used for other situations, too. There used to be a packing crate mod intended for sims on the move, but I think it was broken when I finally decided to try it.
Try putting your produce in any storage. I'm not 100% sure it will work, but I've used selling tables from CL as portable fridges to keep food my sims had cooked for a wedding fresh and then transfer that food to a wedding venue. I put the whole table with meals inside in sim's inventory and it worked, so I assume it would work for gifts too?
I'm not sure if BG has any portable storage, but I'm pretty sure DU have portable storage chests, and maybe boxes from EL are portable too? I'm not sure.
What, you can put a table in a sim's inventory? I had no idea, better try that.
I never used the DU chest so I will try that also, I think I tried it once but it was only confusing as I could only put items from the personal inventory in it, and not furniture etc, but that is exactly what I need it for now. Might be the true solution to my problem, thanks! Don't think I ever noticed any EL boxes, I obviously need to do some catalog research :)
Yes, any selling table (from CL, JA or El) and you can bring it for example to the town square, start a yard sale there and become a rival to the grocery shop haha :)
Giant crops won't go inside those tables though, they can go only on top. Maybe they will fit inside DU storage chests.
My bad, I missed the *selling* word ;) Anyway, I've tested the EL box now, but although the gifting works much better, the unpacking is a nightmare. The Butler has to place the content into world one by one. He takes long to decide where to put the items, too. One egg, another egg, one carrot - took 1 sim hour, and there's 15 more items to go... But the worst is that the carrot can still only be eaten, not used for cooking. Egg can still be "put away". So it looks like some ingredients can only be used for cooking by the household who harvested (or bought) them?

This means I still don't have a good solution, but at least I learned about the EL boxes, and I love that they can also be labeled. I already think of many more ways to make use of them for several family business ideas :)
I might check the DU chest, and the sales tables, too. Maybe the latter is more friendly to harvestables...
