Father Winter Baby

I installed some mods that increase the number of traits for sims, and I noticed the option to add father winter baby. I see mostly complaints that the trait does so little. What traits can we add alongside the Father Winter trait to beef it up?

I added cold acclimation, waterproof, and storm chaser. I also added the observant trait and installed a mod that makes it more revealing: If Santa Claus knows who has been naughty and who has been nice, I think his children should at least be observant.

I was thinking of using the Ravansheen food spawner to leave out free milk and cookies whenever the child visits the bars. Children cannot order food at bars. This would be a way to excuse using the spawner there.

An actual mod that improves the Father Winter Baby trait should be easy to make, I would think. But what do I know, though.

For weeks, I have been playing around with Child Alone gameplay, pushing the game to its limits. I think some type of challenge involving runaway Father Winter babies would be interesting. The Russian Fairy tale about Morozko (Father Frost) sounds perfect as backstory. I gave my new Father Winter baby child sim the surname Morozko.

I have not seen any videos of anyone playing a father winter baby through all their lifestages. There are such great storytelling opportunities for this. Have I just missed the videos and stories?

  • Also, I saw that I can use the more traits mod to add dormant werewolf. Would it conflict for a child sim to have Father Winter as a dad and a werewolf or other occult as a mom? Can they have both traits at the same time?
  • As far as I know the only effect of the father winter trait is to boost aspiration points from completing whims. But whims have been replaced by wants so I don't know if the father winter trait was updated for that. A mod to change the trait and make it more useful sounds interesting.

You can have sims with multiple hereditary traits (traits that can be inherited). I have had sims with the combination of the spellcaster blood line trait and the sulani mana trait and sims with the light house trait and the spellcaster bloodline. I haven't tried this with the father winter trait yet. Here you can find an article about combining a few traits with the father winter trait. Werewolves wasn't released at the time of the article but if it can be combined with the spellcaster bloodline trait, I suppose the same can be said for the dormant werewolf trait.

I like the idea of combining the father winter trait with cold acclimation reward trait. It does seem fitting.

By the way, this can be done with cheat codes as well. You don't need a mod to allow more traits to add a hereditary trait. But the mod might make it easier to add them. Traits your sims can inherit, unlock or buy with aspiration points don't count towards the limit of traits in CAS.
  • The values listed on the wants are larger than they were before I added the Father Winter Trait. Things that were 25 are now 37. Things that were 50 are 75. This adds up and can reduce the need for pursuing premade aspirations to gain satisfaction traits.

I am still learning how the more trait mods and cheats work. I am starting to understand the difference between CAS traits and the other kinds of traits and my options to add them. I prefer to use cheats instead of mods when possible. I think now that I understand better, I might be able to remove some of the mods.

Thank you for the link! I think I might try a combination of Father Winter and dormant werewolf next.

What does the lighthouse baby trait do? I was unable to find that information. I only saw information about getting the trait, not the results of having the trait.

I absolutely love the idea of some type of variation of the Morozko fairy tale as backstory! This is the first time I might want to write some type of sim story. I am moving beyond having my characters shaped by pursuit of the supplied aspirations. I want to create my own goals, and I guess I will cheat in the rewards traits and starting traits.

I would love to see what Whiny Brit could do with this idea! She has done a few child alone videos. The whole woohoo with Father Winter thing would naturally result in some independent children facing some added challenges in their lives. It is not like most of the their mothers are/were the most stable people.

How would the average sims react to a neglected offspring of Father Winter wandering around unsupervised? Usually challenges require runaways to hide, but this could be different. Children of celebrities and certain high-ranking parents find themselves treated very differently than average children when they are neglected. People turn a blind eye to what they see. Some offer support in quiet ways that don't confront the parent. Children are usually not punished for breaking the rules that they are unable to follow without help from the parent. Few people would want to acknowledge never mind confront Father Winter about his illegitimate children!

I tried the erratic trait out on a child to keep the social needs up. That is interesting! I am a bit surprised that it has not been removed from the game for children. Paranoid is not available, though. There is an unhappy infant trait. Is there also a negative toddler trait. I only saw a positive trait for toddlers.

There are so many interesting possibilities for using this trait if we use our imaginations. I think some subtle things get less attention if they were released at the same time as something more dramatic and immediate. Some subtle things can have the most long-term impact and storytelling potential. If the Father Winter trait had been bundled with the cold acclimation trait, it might have gotten more attention.

What are all of Father Winters strengths and weaknesses and likes and dislikes that a child might inherit. What can we bundle with the Father Winter baby trait? Its narrow results might be a benefit instead of a weakness. We have more room to customize the trait. We just need to bundle it to make it more dramatic.

There is a lot trait called penny pixies https://forums.thesims.com/en_us/discussion/985097/penny-pixies Maybe that could act as random child support payments when Father Winter suddenly remembered that the child even existed.
