Emotional paintings off the gallery, work quicker than most options
Yeah. The 'non-cheaty' way is more of what the game is about though.
It’s not cheating if sims are able to afford the painting. The gallery is part of the game, and what the game is about to everyone is subjective. Chances are my sense of what the game is about is not the same as yours- I think storytellers might find it advantageous to have Sims in particular moods. I don't really try to influence my Sims' moods because whatever they're working on will eventually get done.
- SmellincoffeeNew AdventurerI use the shower a lot for moods, because some aspirations require certain moods -- hence why there's a homework table right next to the telescope or the chess table, and a kid's drawing table in the bathroom..

Mine is yoga, but that's out when sims are pregnant.
I always forget that this is a thing and it makes me mad all over again. As if prenatal yoga is not a whole thing.
I get that they just didn't feel like adding the animations, but it's a terrible message to send. - Mirror for confidence and working through anger and / or the final stage of Playful(otherwise they will die).
Shower / bath for tense, or flirty(seems dependent on that romance trait?) - elliebretonSeasoned AceI rarely set out to put my sims in certain moods, except focused sometimes, for which I use yoga.
I did use the focused plumbbob lamp once for a sim who didn't do yoga, when he needed to stay focused for some hours whilst gaming for his aspiration. - This thread has actually helped me a lot. Thanks.
- GrumpyGlowfishSeasoned NewcomerShowers used to be my preferred method of getting sims into specific emotions. Even though they can only make you flirty, inspired, or energised, the latter two are usually the ones I need anyway. Then Snowy Escape ruined everything by turning showering into an emotionally mindful activity. Bubble baths still work to make sims playful, though, and brushing teeth makes them self-assured (just not children, for some reason).
Aside from that, I had a highly skilled painter paint all kinds of emotional paintings and donate them to a museum. The idea was that all sims could now go there and get emotional from the paintings, but I never do that in practice because of the loading screen. And the negative emotions are usually drowned out by happy moodlets anyway before the sims can go back home and put them to use.
The problem with the tea kettle is that it doesn't tell you which tea causes which emotion, you just have to memorise it. - carmineskiesSeasoned Rookie

For which ocassions do you need Sims in particular moods?
For skill building and crafting after you've mastered a skill, since being in the right mood effects (affects?) the quality of the things you make. Though I wonder if it effects things like programming royalties? - AncientMuse2Seasoned RookieMy favourite way (and the quickest/easiest way) is to use one of the incense burners from spa day. They will give your sims various moods, depending on which scent you choose: happy, flirty, inspired, focused, energized.
I usually plunk one down next to a computer for my writer sims, or on a table close to a painter's easel, or on a kitchen counter, etc....it helps to give them the mood they need to fulfill certain aspirations/goals you're trying to achieve. The burners work instantly on your sims and only cost 20 simoleans each time you burn a scent.
I also like to put one in bathrooms close to a bathtub for when I want to give my sims a relaxing spa-like bubblebath.
