Showers used to be my preferred method of getting sims into specific emotions. Even though they can only make you flirty, inspired, or energised, the latter two are usually the ones I need anyway. Then Snowy Escape ruined everything by turning showering into an emotionally mindful activity. Bubble baths still work to make sims playful, though, and brushing teeth makes them self-assured (just not children, for some reason).
Aside from that, I had a highly skilled painter paint all kinds of emotional paintings and donate them to a museum. The idea was that all sims could now go there and get emotional from the paintings, but I never do that in practice because of the loading screen. And the negative emotions are usually drowned out by happy moodlets anyway before the sims can go back home and put them to use.
The problem with the tea kettle is that it doesn't tell you which tea causes which emotion, you just have to memorise it.
