It's great that they did come back for free and well-done (I would've been fine with recycled TS2/3 tots), but I think releasing them as paid content would've caused a riot, so they had no choice.

And yeah, the gender patch is huge, and the only real bonus IMO. Like I said, mostly everything like pools, genealogy, ghosts, toddlers, and service NPCs should've been there from the beginning.

I was in the "if they're coming they'll be patched in for everyone" camp because trying to program aging up for occults would have been a nightmare if some had toddlers and some didn't, which may be why we got the toddler patch right before the Vampire GP release.

Nope, just speculation.

Honestly, it could be anything. The toddlers patch was probably a one-off thing. I'm sure we'll still get new features patched in, but nothing quite as big, and not on a regular schedule.

Actually the toddler patch was right before the release of the Vampire pack: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/908758/january-12-2017-patch-notes -- Toddler patch was January 12, and the Vampire Pack was released 1/24/17; there were no other patches between. There could have been a relationship based on the Vampire age-up coding. Doesn't mean that we'll get anything big in the February patch though; it's been a while since we've had any sort of Boost week or Challenge. (Would love to have some of the old ones come back because there are so many collections that can't be completed.)

Agreed. I don’t think there’s any reason to believe we are getting anything cool for free this year.
