Yes! You've put into words my exact feelings, its almost looks like they took the complaints that people had about 3, ugly and poorly optimized, and only focused on those two aspects and called it an improved game. I can't stand how my sims are happy 99% of the time, tense with no fun, sad when someone dies of the pet runs away, I feel like Sims 3 sims have more uniqueness to them in terms of personality. Which irks me to no end because we were promised more unique sims - but its possible I misunderstood and they meant more unique LOOKING sims which is entirely possible its been 4 years, my memory is good but not that good.
There also isn't much challenge in the game, like in the sims 2 the chance cards if I choose the wrong answer then my sim would get fired, so many careers gone due to those chance cards, I'd really love to have the difficulty to getting rich back. it's very hard to fail in a career in the sims 4.
and Paradox blew my expectations out of the water with CIties:Skylines compared to what EA came out with SimCity. Its not perfect but its a good game. Would be nice to give EA/maxis a bit of competition in the Sim life market.
