I'm enjoying the expansion pack, but I do have some issues that I really don't care for. So here goes:
The retail system in the game is great, not as in depth as The Sims 2 but I've come to expect that now. However, it would be awesome if 1. Doors could be made lockable. I have customers in my bakery constantly going to the fridge in the back to get food I have stored in there. It would also help for players who would like to have a make shift "home business" as they aren't supported. That leads me to my second wish for this portion, and that would be the addition of home businesses. It would make the most sense to be patched in with this content, as I really wouldn't buy another pack just to get that functionality. However I find it very inconvenient to have to have a loading screen between my sims, whereas if they could actually live on the same lot as their business that wouldn't be a problem. 3. I really wish you guys would have given the registers functionality. The way it is, my sim will stand on the complete other side of her store while ringing up a customer, and forget about the employees I hire being of any help as all they seem to do is socialize instead of performing the tasks I've assigned them. If the register worked the sims would form a line, and not get mad and leave because my sim can't ring up 4 sims at once. Bad design choice on that one, sorry guys!
Edit: Adding onto the retail portion, everyday I see the exact same sims. They come and they buy the exact same things, now with all of the sims that do not have homes why do I constantly see the same sims over and over? This also translates to the doctor career(probably others but I haven't them all yet). The same patients come in day after day, am I supposed to belive they are the only sims that get sick even though I have them a flu shot that cured them the day before? No! I'm sure this is something that can be fixed, so please make this one a sooner rather than a layer.
Another design choice I don't care for is the new neighborhood. There is nothing new in the public space, so why is there so much? There looks to be plenty of room for additional lots, but instead we got fancy deco and community activities that we have in all of the residential neighborhoods that are in the game already. You guys couldn't have put in a food truck? Or something that actually makes use of the huge empty space around the 4 lots? I know it's not possible to add lots to the game now, but going forward if EP's don't bring more to the table in terms of what kind of world or neighborhood is added I won't buy.
The new careers are cool, but it's kind of confusing how exactly one is supposed to accomplish their goals when it takes my sim 15 sim minutes to walk from the x-ray to the hospital bed areas. I realize players might not want to spend excessive amounts of time at the new career venues, but with how long it takes to complete a few actions the shifts definitely do not seem long enough. I would be all for the option to have 12 or even 16 hour shifts for these new careers, just so that my sim can actually accomplish a good amount of stuff during his work day. When I heard about a doctor profession, I imagined we would be able to treat a good number of sims everyday, but the most I can get is 2 or 3. Simply because of how short the shifts are. Now I haven't gotten very far in the career so if the shifts increase later on then great, but so far it's not enough.
Another thing I have noticed is that no other sims at the venues do anything. I had a horde of sick sims standing in the lobby of the hospital, and the only other employee besides the doctor and receptionist did nothing but socialize! The socialization in this game is driving me crazy, as it's all sims want to do. It definitely needs to be tuned down so that they can do their tasks, if they are even supposed too.
With the mannequins, it was shown in the still life trailer that they could be placed on displays. Well for whatever reason that doesn't work without the moo cheat, and that results in sims not being able to interact with them. I would assume since this was shown in one of the promo videos that this should be possible, and if it was just crafty editing it would be something worth tweaking.
Other than that the only other thing I wish you guys would change is the way babies are handled. They are a pain, and they clearly wouldn't be if they weren't stuck to the bassinet. We can't see their needs, or anything, so they sit in a bassinet until they start crying (which went from rarely ever before the latest patch, to now they are constantly crying) and then you have to go through the same interactions each time trying to guess what is wrong with them. They don't feel like babies, and they won't until they become a part of the game instead of an object. If there are no plans to separate them, then we need the option to cheat their needs.
