Feelings on the DePop Collab?

I was reading article on Highschool Years and saw a paragraph on this. Apparently a bunch of clothes were designed with a collab and there is a fair focus on being a teen "simfluencer."

I didn't create this thread to trash it, but beyond not knowing this thing existed prior it completely flies in the face of my high school experience. I did nothing with fashion. In fact, my mother went out of her way to offer to buy me some brand name bags to fit in better because that was her high school experience instead.

So I am admittedly disappointed, once again, that they focus so heavily on influencer activities like with Get Famous or phone addled animations from the base game and on. I'm in my 20s, and I don't do any of this and didn't a decade ago.

Also, nothing against the clothes, but the collab really explains why I couldn't pick a theme for them from the trailer. No piece stood out to me particularly, but altogether it kind of confused me. Least of my worries, though. Plenty of CAS abound and there is another CAS kit on the horizon.

So what did everyone else think about the collab? Maybe there is something really exciting about it and I just don't know because I am not familiar with it. I am certainly looking forward to thrift stores, boba tea, the amusement park, and interesting teens.

  • Yeah this was the point of feeling extremely disconnected with what was popular with teens. But hey, I wasn't connected to what was popular with teens when I was a teen, so what's new there?! :D
  • I've never heard of Depop (I'm probably too old). It's going to be just Sims thing for me.

LOL! High School Years is sounding more and more WOKE the more I read about it.

Buying from thrift shops is “woke?” Dang. Better shut down the Salvation Army, then. That’s 156 years of “wokeness,” right there!
  • I'm not crazy about depop because I like more of my traditional clothes. When I do wear non traditional fashion it has to be pink, pretty, glittery ,
Lolita, hello kitty or something totally kawaii/cute.
However, I think the chosen clothes for the pack is really good and perfect for my sims!
I do like thrifting too sometimes because you find some good stuff and! and now my sims can enjoy!!
I love love the browsing interaction!!
Overall I think this collaboration was a good choice!
  • Forgot to mention though if you check out the app they do have a wide variety of different categories! So basically something for everybody.
  • I don't know who any of the collabs are and I don't follow influencers so I'm def drawing a blank there. The fashions aren't really speaking to me but I'm also not in the target age group so there's that.
The thrift store angle for the HS pack was kind of an unusual choice, I can def see it for the Uni pack and college age sims but not high schoolers so much.

Besides the first creator clothing that can be used for goth Sims I really don't like the style of the 4 others they chose. The outfits remind me of those colorful cartoon outfits you would find in the Walmart toddler section. :s But at this point I'm used to it EA collabs have all been horrible with Sims 4 long gone are the Diesel and H&M collabs where you could get normal clothes people actually wear.
