My sims always end up fat. Are there ways to keep them thin without going to the gym or doing yoga? Doesn't walking to their job or to a lot count? Is it because they eat too many hotdogs or cookies? This is truly annoying. I don't mind my sims being "normal" without apparent muscles, but I'd like them to keep the same body shape. If I feed them more veggies and send them walk outside, will that prevent them from gaining extra pounds?

Make sure your sim isn't eating a lot of certain foods as they do have calories to them. Grand meals that came with seasons get your sims fat in no time. Also, another thing if you happen to do rotational and play in city living sims are 'constantly' going to food stalls and eating all the time, so they also end up gaining a lot of weight there too.

Tend to have my sims jog or be on a tredmill they won't gain any muscle definition from it. :)

I have a vegetarian sim and she always maintains her weight as she's eating salads and raw veggies. Drinks from the bar I think is like 200 calories a piece? Drinks from the fridge is 0.

A few food items that have rather low to average calories to them is:

    Ambrosia, 0
    Cereal, 120
    Chips, 200
    Fish Tacos, 0
    Asparagus proscuitto wrapped, 100
    blackened bass, 0
    chips, 200
    garden salad, 50
    fish and chips, 0
grilled chicken, salmon, or steak, 0
    oatmeal, 166
    pan fried tilapia, 0
    fruit salad, 70
    french toast, 200
    Hamburger, 350
    Hot Dog, 350
    Mac N Cheese, 200
    Pancake, 200
    Parfait, 290
    Pasta Primavera, 251
    Scrambled Egg, 155
    Spaghetti, 300
    Yogurt, 79

Word to the wise pizza has some high calories like 500 and lobster thermidor is like 800 at least? Had a sim who just lived off pizza. He got pretty fat eating that three times a days.
  • I think it also helps if you don't max out their hunger need, and I noticed in Sims 2 (not sure if it's the same in Sims 4) that if they keep eating after their hunger bar is full, that will make them gain weight.

@ladyKyn, that's some great information there! Good to know fish is healthy, even in the Sims. Laughing that pasta and hamburgers made the list of 'low to average calories' though.

It was under a 400 haha. :p figured they were pretty average less your sim is like eating them everyday. Which definitely starts to rack up points. I tend to forget bar related drinks are added calories, probably why my sim kept gaining so much weight when she was out partying and drinking herself stupid until they nerfed it a little. Though she tends to autonomously order drinks at bar venues at least two or three times.

Waiting for Octavia Moon to pack on the pounds with her 'juice' problem.

If you wanna stay fit you gotta exercise, just like in irl. Or don't eat too much fast food.

Food in TS4 does have a calorie count. You could try to make the sugar free ice cream (Cool Kitchen SP) and have your sims eat it. They'll get thin in no time.
  • There are lots of ways to lose weight but walking place to place is not one of them, far as I know. Sending them for a jog once in a while would be good enough.

You wouldn't happen to know how the special fish recipes that have to be unlocked fall in the ratings, or the various City Living foods, would you? (sorry to be a bother!)
  • Really just eating good and excercise. I find my Sims do not get fat easily. A good jog every once in a while is all they need and maybe skip dessert every so often!
  • So no more gummy bear pancakes! I didn't know sim food was so punishing. I'm used to feed them whatever they have on hand, they'll even have cookies because of eight platters, lol. I guess no more! I also like their green bar full. Oh well.
