Hmm...funny how these "freebies" and "fixes" are coming after players and creators have jumped ship. All I see is fluff and fallout from the pending sale of EA. Based on years of playing TS4, 150 fixes mean 300 new problems.

ny2vegas the fixes and freebies were mentioned in the Quality of Life Roadmap two months ago.

Yeah, the timing makes it seem that way, but this wasn't something that was thrown out to distract and deflect. They did announce that roadmap like two to three months ago.

While this is true about the roadmap, just because we only recently learned about the EA sale a short time ago (after the roadmap release) doesn't mean EA didn't already know about the possible sale long before we did. I am sure there were some terms and possible negotiations that went into this sale before a confirmed agreement was in reach. Sales like this (like with any big purchases) takes some time, consideration, planning, and some room for negotiation of terms and pricing of the sale. For other big business sales, it has been known to take from six to twelve months, while more complexed sales can take up to a year or more before all was said and done. So, while we may not know what was going on, chances are quite strong EA knew of this sale before the roadmap took place.
As many know, between 2023 and early 2025, nearly 1,900 jobs were cut across multiple studios, departments, and leadership levels. These were not isolated incidents either. They reflected a larger pattern of strategy changes, concerns of rising financial pressures, plus the shifting of priorities. Many speculate that with all EA was facing during that time to make such bold moves was behind the sale, or the leading up of EA being sold. Something like this, we can't just sweep under the rug as coincidence all together. So, again... yeah... EA knew long before we and even before the latest roadmap that something BIG is happening to reshape EA.
Another spin to put on this, in May of 2024, EA assembled a "dedicated team" to focus on fixing bugs and addressing technical issues within the core The Sims 4 game experience... Something many of us said should have been in place long, long ago. And even while some bugs were thankfully being addressed, many players were upset that the major changes that were needed were still not being addressed. Now, suddenly, a huge fix update is in the works??? Coincidence again?... NOPE. Their priority is getting these games back into shape to where it will meet the demands of the agreed upon terms for the sale of EA, looking good to its share holders, and getting free from a huge debt. Oh yeah!!! Let’s not forget the debt they are in as a result of this sale. EA will incur a debt of $20 Billion with this sale and have limited time to get free and out from under. So, yeah… EA has no choice now but to clean up if they wish to continue to sell more games to get out from under.
