Follow your Sim kids to school?

It would be so much better for them to release a GP focused on kids and teens' education with tons of after school activities, clubs, a private school (rabbit hole), special events such as bake sale or school trip, etc
For a game like TS3 it would be awsome but for TS4 I have to agree with you. I personally don't care about the careers either
