A lot of simmers keep asking for this but this is in my opinion a really bad idea. It would mean that you follow a single child to school where you need to do whatever the checklist tells you to do for 8 sim hours while the rest of the household gets ignored/neglected. It sounds super boring to me. Get to Work is my least favourite EP and that is the main reason why.
It would be so much better for them to release a GP focused on kids and teens' education with tons of after school activities, clubs, a private school (rabbit hole), special events such as bake sale or school trip, etc
Or it wouldn't mean that at all and they might do things differently and let us have more control over our child's school day. Not really fair to make assumptions based on your preferences. I still want to follow my sims to school and have a teaching career. And they will most likely allow us too, as it's something simmers have been requesting since Sims 2.
How is that not fair? It is my opinion and I am not making anything up. I base it on what I have experienced with the game so far and on my preferences.
In TS4 you have little to no control over the household sims that are not with you on a specific lot, that is not going to change at this stage I'm afraid, and if it does, it would be very much welcomed but I am being realistic here. So, when you take a kid to school you will not be able to control the other sims in your household for the whole school day. It is also 99% sure that if this is implemented you will only be able to control 1 kid at a time so if you have multiple kids in your household you will have to choose just one to follow per day. Like it happens when you play with 2 scientists for example.
Based on the active careers we have so far and the other elements of the game that are checklists too (events for example), I can tell this will be most likely not different. I think too many resources and time would need to be invested on this to make it different to what we already have with the active careers.
This can of course be super fun for many players, but it is not for me, far from it.
At the end of the day, this is my opinion and I am not trying to impose it on anyone else, I am just expressing it since this is what the forums are for.
Agreed - I don't see any reason to think it would be done differently than the active careers. I actually like my Sims going into a rabbit hole, leaving me to concentrate on one or two of them while the others are at work or school. I'd much rather have home schooling than active school.
