@RememberJoy In Sims 2, if your active sim was in their own apartment, you could see the walls and floors of the other apartments if you hovered over them, but not the sims or furniture inside. If you knocked on the neighbor's door and they let you in (which they might not do, depending on the relationship) the furniture and sims would magically appear all of a sudden. Once you decided to leave and your sim stepped outside of the neighbor's apartment, everything would disappear again.
Now, when it came to switching control between households, it worked pretty much the same as in City Living. You had to exit to the neighborhood view (loading screen one), select the other household from there and load back in (loading screen two). I would be pleased as punch if they found a way for us to switch control directly from the other apartment, with only a single loading screen. That's not a deal breaker though. My big hang-up is having to go through a loading screen when all my sim wants to do is watch action movies on their neighbor's big screen TV, or swipe a helping of their leftover grilled cheese.
Ah OK, this makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain it, I never did get around to the apartment expansion for 2. This was kind of what I was thinking would be the case anyways, needing loading screens to switch households, but if we can avoid them to visit a neighbor that would be great.
