- I like to think the other threads about the pack are the mixed opinion threads and the positive and negative are just for the more specifically what you are mega excited about or disappointed about
then again yeah i tend to have hard time staying in subject sometimes
like ill be complaining about croptops and then suddenly note theres actually not that many mini shorts - dianed485New Scout
Right ? All I’ve seen in the trailer regarding pools is I think a new pool trim and a new floatie."catloverplayer;c-18322725" wrote:
I'm really excited about this pack but I see some negatives as well.
Pool parties being introduced but no pool slides or pool waterfalls.
No hotels. - AgnesValravnNew AdventurerLandlord stuff really isnt my interest so I was and still am not excited for this pack.
But now after the trailer...the pack seems so split, many disconnected features, feels again like "jack of all traits, master of none".
Nothing about the landlord thing looks interesting to me, very mundane. And renting? Yeah we can already do that...breaking and entering? I guess its new for non vampires...stealing is nothing new...blackmail (here through snooping) came with strangerville.
Hoppscotch and marbles are cool but I feel like they shouldve been in Growing Together.
Yay...more ..food...and another food centered event...wow....sure my foodie sims will love it, but we just had a food centered SP so I wasnt really starved for that (haha, get it? starved...).
I do however like the new death, bb and world look great and I am very interested in the animal sanctuary which they didnt really show.
Also....we didnt have poolparties already??? Obviously I dont throw many parties in the sims :D - Superstara140Seasoned Novice

The only negatives I have are the new death and burglars. I hope there is a way to avoid or turn off the death as I spend a lot of time creating and skilling up my sims so don’t want them to die. As for the burglars, I hope only active sims can burglarize others so my sims can avoid being burglarized. I don’t want their stuff stolen when I’m playing another household.
Yeah me neither. I never got the hype for burglars in The Sims 4, why would Simmers want their households to be at risk of getting robbed, but maybe for challenge or jumpscares? But personally, I am maybe in the minority too, but I will be quite happy even if burglars are not forced in everyone's game saves with no option to turn them off. This was what people complained when Vampires was released, but they did add a setting for the door to not let vampires in with their vampire powers, so I hope there would be an option in the settings to turn bulglar break-ins off, too, for players who don't want them. And wouldn't burglars make more sense after cars will be added to the game too? Police cars would also make sense because of immersion and more, in that case I could try it for challenge, but I hope even if they do add burglars there will be a turn off toggle <3 - Superstara140Seasoned Novice

There are only a few things I'm a little I guess concerned about. I've never been a fan of burglars, hated then actually. The Sims 3 barely worked for me but guess what did. Those guys, and zombies. At least burglars go away if you had the alarm. But that was pre-cheats beginning playing the sims me. And I wasn't super good at it, and rarely had the money for the alarm right away. ? And tended to forget I needed it (mostly bc my game was so unstable I couldn't play it often) until they had already robbed me. Deep hate of those guys. Also fences Do Not keep the zombies out of your hard grown garden ?. I digress.
So not super glad to see these guys back. While it's very interesting to see they've evolved, and it starts with snooping and casing the joint, I want a toggle. And several alarms. Like if I can't turn the burglary off entirely, I need a way to make sure none of MY sims deal with it. Not in houses or apartments. And maybe a really good security system option for the apartment itself. Like this is definitely one of those features where it's like some people love it but others hate it. I'm fine with werewolves running around everywhere, other people hated it. Toggle. I vote for a toggle for this.
Second thing, so like we're not getting bed and breakfast or hotels or any of that are we? Like I read the blog post "create a variety of dwellings, including townhomes, duplexes, apartments, and more!" All great, super even happy to see it. I just feel like if any of that "more" option included actual businesses outside of multifamily branching into other aspects of the hospitality industry, they would've mentioned at least one. Or mentioned traveling to this new world in the post, rather than simply "moving".
Like don't get me wrong I am excited, wait this is the negative thread I don't have to qualify my emotions. I wanted more than apartments. I like apartments wanted them for years. I feel like this all looks super nice. But several of these features should have already been in game. And it feels like this entire pack concept is things that should've been in game including giving more representation of places outside of America and Western Europe. But like tbh mostly America. And if they were finally giving the community what it wanted and deserved they could've given just a bit more to round it out. Especially since we've spent truly insane amounts of money on this game at this point.
Like seriously still don't even have fairies. When this game came out I wasn't even 20 yet. And now I'm pushing 30. That's a long time for people to still not have things you have provided before especially when you have a "better" format than before. And you're trying to convince then to by the next one.
So yeah I'm a little let down by not having multifunctional lots that allow live-in business, hotels, etc. And the fact that no mention has been made of elevators concerns me. Especially since this pack is obviously perfect to give us some usable ones. And that would be the perfect tie in for more diversity in representation of those with disabilities. And being able to build apartments that can accommodate those. Even the small things like having handicap buttons would be nice.
Other than that though, I already said the things I did quite like in the positive thread. ?
Wait did some people really expect more big main features like fairies and hotels in For Rent pack? Wow…I personally expected features that have to do with the rental/neighborly theme that they teased to us before. would you really want them to shoehorn incomplete systems like resorts in this EP? Get to Work suffered from this, they should have separated retail/Open for business aspect for another pack in my opinion, and now I do feel like there is a high chance that the reason why we may not be getting major pack refreshes is because those things like shopping malls and deeper retail gameplay will get added in new packs instead. EA/Maxis is actually quite genious for this, in a business/commercial sense. But at least they have more budget to add more content for these new packs because we will get some substantial base game updates too, so I kind of understand that their technique of ”splitting themes to separate packs” works for them. It is capitalism, but I secretly love buying more DLC for this game
And yes the apartment/rental thing could have been part of City Living technically, but this same thing happened with Horse Ranch, people thought it could have been part of Cats & Dogs, so I am not too surprised. Mixed feelings for me, but I will love the new customization tools for residential rental lots. Preordered already <3 - Dunno if this post belongs in the Negative thread since I'm kinda meh on this pack. I don't expect the world to be that interesting because the worlds in this game never are. I don't have much use for property ownership, unless it works similarly to TS3 and I can own numerous lots and generate an income from them. That'd be cool.
Always down for more recipes, so that's something, I guess. I can't explain it, but I really enjoy watching my Sims cook food in this game. A lot of the trailer is Sims interacting organically, which we know doesn't happen. That new death is a little interesting, though. But I expect it to be very easy to avoid.
Apparently 5 new traits are coming to this pack, one of them I think is exclusive to Elders. I'm fairly interested in that, I tend to enjoy the Loyal trait, though admittedly, it doesn't do much at all.
Overall, as others have expressed, it feels like City Living 2.0 (though it doesn't really look like a city). I expect this to be a pack builders will primarily enjoy.
EDIT: Also, if this is some kind of system in which it's numerous homes in one, is the household limit going to increase? Doubt it, but I feel like that would help. - Bonxie_MCCCSeasoned VeteranI don't really have anything negative to say except that I'm not interested in this topic at all. I wouldn't have voted for a pack like that. But I'm still happy with the horse ranch pack, so go ahead EA. I already got my share.
- Kind of feel like this is what City Living shouldve been and almost feel like this shouldve been a pack refresh for it. But the Thai world is nice and EA has to make money so...*sigh*
My only concern gameplay wise is how big the max amount of people per lot is going to be. Im not interested in being a landlord but the rent system itself would be great in theory for big extended families living together on a single lot. Wouldve loved that in my historical saves. - Karamazov123Seasoned Hotshot

Since they didn't mention anything about the animal sanctuary I fear it's a rabbit hole and that's really disappointing.
'You step into the animal sanctuary. Oh! There is an elephant! Isn't that exciting?'
No, it isn't. It's the year 2023 and not 1983 when we used to play text adventures. Oh my -.-
This. It was the feature I was looking forward to the most, and they didn't even show it. - One gripe, two fears.
- "Tenants can face eviction". Okay, but PLEASE restrict this to units owned by unplayed sims. If a played sim owns a property, the game should never evict a tenant of theirs except I do it myself while playing the landlord.
- "If rating drops too low, landlords may face a tenant revolt". Sounds fun on first glance, but what if if want to play a trailer park, that is constantly at the lowest rating and tenants are lucky to have that space at all? In this case I'd face a daily revolt... A toggle for revolts would be nice.
- Would have loved an urban district, ideally a slum, instead of yet another cosy neighborhood.
