- I was extremely disappointed when I first heard there was not going to be an open world and most importantly; teens looking exactly the same as young adults. I was sure I was going to hate this game. I saw LGR's review expecting him to dismantle and trash the base game but to my surprise his review was mostly positive. I decided to give it a go anyway because it's a sims game after all.
It took a bit of time but I eventually started noticing all the things that The Sims 4 did better than the previous versions of the game. The beautiful new sims, their perfect mix between realistic and cartoony style, the emotion system (needs a bit of work though), multitasking, the amazing build/buy mode among other features made me realize that the game was actually pretty good. TS4 also did an amazing job with children as they're really fun to play, I didn't play with them in the previous games as I found them boring. The thing I ended up liking the most was the liveliness of neighborhoods, it really makes the world feel alive.
Now, I didn't start playing regularly until basements and Get to Work were released (I had no idea how important basements were to me until they were patched into the game). Later packs such as Outdoor Retreat and Spa Day were amazing and have me wishing for even more Game Packs. I still believe that the base game (on its own) lacks a bit on content, but then again I can say the same for the base game of all the previous versions. - The graphics and the performance. My game runs flawlessly even with a lot of CC (
8gbs worth -cough-) and I am continuing to play this game as my main game :D - The cartoon design kinda turned me off at first but then I saw the game play with the emotions, multitasking, it runs on my PC! I knew I had to play it! :D
- Lustianicia10 years agoSeasoned AceI was actually the opposite! ^_^ lol I kinda liked Sims 4 at first because the developers "promised" that the game will become what they call "better", but I waited and waited and waited and waited and waited for new interesting things to come out for the game... nothing changed that would make me stick with it. Eventually, it became extremely boring after having to do the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over (x100,000,000)... the gameplay is way too repetitive because it doesn't have many things to do (even after being out for over a year).
That "promise" the developers made turned out to be a lie just so we would keep buying things in hopes that the game will get better. I fully regret falling for their ploy and refuse to buy anything else until the base game itself is finished (we still need toddlers, cars, etc). - CAS and sim pathing.
When I first heard TS4 was coming I was so angry. I wasn't going to buy it, but shortly before release I tried the demo and fell in love with CAS and the sims themselves. I liked the way they moved, looked, interacted with one another, and always gravitated toward each other. They're immersive and for whatever reason I related to them like I did my Sims 2 sims. It was a good feeling, and one that I didn't realize I had missed in TS3 until that moment.
I decided to pick the game up and check it out. There wasn't a lot to do in those early days, but I built this tiny house (like the ones I used in TS3) and was amazed at how well my sim navigated through it. There was no foot stomping or getting stuck on obstacles that shouldn't be obstacles... it was wonderful. I was thoroughly impressed, and the damage was done.
When I got bored (there really wasn't much to do in the beginning lol) I tried to go back to TS3, but I couldn't build the tiny homes like I could in TS4. I mean, I could build them, but I couldn't invite sims over and have a small gathering without a lot of routing issues. It bothered me a lot more than I thought it would, and when my game froze yet again, I forced TS3 client closed and never fired it up again.
Since then it has been TS4 only, with a bit of TS2 Castaway on the console and some Sims Medieval mixed in for variety. lol - At first I did not want to buy it because it missed so much stuff and I was still happily playing the Sims 3. But after watching a few LP's and all of the games (that was right before luxury party stuff came out) were on sale right after my exams I was like, you know, I'll try.
Still slightly disappointed at first, because I was comparing it to TS3, which I should not have done. When I stopped comparing I started loving the game. I love the way sims move, they look so alive, I love how they first cook, I love how easily you can make a family have dinner without stomping feet and yelling and I love that every Sim I create is different. In TS3 I have the tendency to make them all look alike.
I also love the worlds, especially Granite Falls and Willow Creek. They are so bright and beautiful.
Now I both play TS3 and TS4 happily! - Awesome to hear from those who initially disliked the game but had a change of heart. :)
- I have to say I'm not over the top liking it, but I'm not hating it as much as I did. It's content that is changing me over. With more being released, my Sims are slowly having things to do and that keeps my interest.
- I disliked The Sims 4 at the beginning because I read about the game in-depth before I even thought of buying it and with all the content that was confirmed not to be in the Base Game, I felt like the game would be incomplete to me, but then I watched some Youtubers play the game and I began to become fond of it, it's not until I actually gave the game a try myself that I started to like it and now I love the game, it's kept me entertained for a year which is more than I can say for most games I've played, it has a special place as one of my all time favourite games, I love the graphics, I love how I can finally create the Sims I've always wanted to and as someone who is kind of a Collector and likes earning achievements, the Collections, Achievements and Rewards in the game help immerse me more, it's more of my style of game I guess :3 and I regret taking over a month to purchase it x.x
- Trashmagic10 years agoNew AceNice replies! I can agree with most of you that the CAS is amazing and it's bunches easier to create so many unique and different sims.
