I started with the Sims Deluxe myself as a teen and didn't join forums until this iteration. I found out about the game with a TV commercial which was this one:

I had been playing SimCity and SimTower before and just been growing out of Barbies, so I wanted to continue their story in a more mature setting then the Sims came and I've been addicted ever since.
