I always switch back to my forever Sim when playing events, so I might just add a temporary child so I can keep the tradition going.

I do the same. I have this one Sim that I've had forever and I plan to have go through all careers, alla aspirations, complete all collections and so forth. She always do these challenges. I will CAS her a child as well in a temporary save.
