Freelancer Writer: Continue Writing under the Freelancer menu

I've started a Sim off as a Freelancing Writer. I find the flow a bit confusing in which I go under the Freelancer menu to start writing a book type, but don't see a "Continue Writing" prompt there if I take a break from writing the book. I interpreted that as meaning I lost the book's progress, when really the book is just under the "Write" menu.
Can books started under the Freelancer menu that have not been completed have a "Continue Writing" option under the Freelancer menu as well?
