I have cc and mods: but I have no cc hair for children sims...Funnily enough, the hair I'm having issues with came with perfect patio. My sim's son has black hair. I went to give him the perfect patio hair for little boys, and as soon as I left CAS, it turned red. Then I changed it back to black...as soon as I left it was red again. So I changed his hair style to the longer base game one and had no hair changing issues since.
