Game Lacking Content?

Yes? And? I'm not sure what that has to do with them being screwed out of money or screwed in general? Or even more far fatched, how they are being forced to buy a new computer, when gaming is a luxury and if someone CHOOSES to buy a new game to continue on with their hobby, that's not the game developers fault.

Games end. The person even suggested it would be better for them to just end Sims 4 and start Sims 5. Again, how is that any different? Yes, their 32 bit computer games end, as in no longer able to buy new content. It happens everyday. Sims 4, for everyone, will end one day. Sims 2 and Sims 3 has already ended. People still play and enjoy them games.

At this point, I'm no longer gonna repsond. I feel people are just complaining to complain. Bringing up points that have nothing to do with what I am saying and are pointing out the obvious.

There’s speculation there’ll be a new pack with the major patch update in June. And adding in to the dropping 32bit support discussion, they’ve already said anyone who can’t upgrade will get the Legacy Edition for free. They will still have The Sims 4 on their Origin so if they later on upgrade computers they can still have everything, but 32bit computers aren’t that common these days.

It's really not about being "fair" at all, it's more about the natural progress of technology. 32 bit is going the way of the cassette tape and CD. It's just not used enough for companies to support it anymore, especially when most people have already jumped on the 64 bit bandwagon long ago. In the near future, it's going to be very hard to find any game that supports 32 bit. Modern PC and laptop components are ceasing to support it as well, so it just doesn't make sense anymore for companies to focus resources on catering to 32 bit systems. It's kind of like if you had a cassette walkman (remember those?) and got angry that local stores no longer carry music on tapes because you can't use CDs or digital music in your player. It's unfortunate, but it's how technology progresses. Things are always changing.

It's not just The Sims 4 doing this. I play a very old MMO (just turned 12) and they are about to update to 64 bit as well. They are currently in beta testing for it. It's a huge undertaking, but they have to do it or people won't be able to play the game anymore on newer systems.

Really I will only purchase a laptop, I like to take my game with me. I don't find that using a laptop sucks the fun out of the game, I have darn good processing power in the current laptop. Not sure where you are but here in Canada computers are fairly inexpensive (compared to other devices ie tablets or cell phones) which if your going for a desktop, laptops more. However, 6 years is fairly old for computers, desktop or laptop. My 6 year old laptop was a 64 bit and it was $1500.00 CND back then. It is a matter of priorities, I guess. You can get desktops, even secondhand that are newer than 6 years and are 64 bit for a decent price.
What will folks do when Microsoft stops supporting whichever operating system that 6yr or older computer is running? It is the same thing right?

OP, your friends are most likely gaming on underpowered laptops. No laptop Ive ever had has had any issues running this game or others even more demanding :) If you prefer desktop thats fine. But i happen to prefer laptop honestly. It all depends on whether or not your machine meets or exceeds the games needs. In fact most simmers I see want to buy gaming laptops, the laptop posts are really popular, even on the facebook groups.

What about bug fixes? The Sims 4 is a buggy mess and I don’t see them still shelling out fixes when Legacy releases. So yes, it is screwing people over. They’re left with a broken game. EA needs to fix the bugs that have been there for years (heck even since base game!) before they even think about discontinuing support for 32bit. Of course no one cares about that because hey, you probably have 64bit. However people like my mother do not and can not afford to upgrade a PC for one single game just because EA doesn’t want to fix their game before making future content 64bit exclusive. If you endorse that, then I don’t know what to tell you.

No, it's really not. They don't have a history of ending a game with no bugs. You are aware Sims 3 ended and we all now it's a buggy mess (not that I'd call Sims 4 a buggy mess, just has it's issues). And being realistic, there is no way they can fix all the bugs, cause it's a known fact that when you fix some bugs, it introduced new ones. And bugs doesn't effect everyone, and each person has their own version of which bugs are most important to them.

I do have 64bit, and, yeah, I think it stinks for the people being effected, but I also have a realistic attitude. I have a computer that matches my hobby as a gamer. I wouldn't expect to buy a 200 laptop and then play a $500 plus game on it (base and all packs). And, I could understand all the uproar if EA was like, "We're ending support, thanks for the good times... you'll have to play another game!" But they're not. They are making everything past supported by the legacy edition, 32bit old system, so players can continue to enjoy their game that they paid for up to that point.

So NO, they are not screwing anyone over. And NO, they are not FORCING anyone to buy a new computer they can't afford.

And, honestly, I think the fact that the 32 bit system is more likely the reason why someone's game would be unplayable, not EA's fault. Yes, Sims 4 has bugs, but it's not unplayable for the masses. I'm sure a stray person with decent specs will come around and claim it's unplayable for them, but again.... not the masses.

And I'm not asking you to tell me anything, so I don't know what to tell you about accepting that support will end, but people are still free to still play their game. And honestly, if it was effecting me, I'd just view it as the series ended for me. Much like Sims 1, 2, and 3 did before it. And it left the game with a bit bugs. And, actually, then I'd be able to really get mods I'd been wanting for a while now. And I wouldn't have to update mods anymore... Honestly, it wouldn't be the end of the world for me.

So no one is being screwed over. I am sorry your mom is being affected. Maybe for a birthday or christmas, kids and/or grandkids can all pitch in and get mom a newer pc.

Yes, I am aware of the issue of The Sims 3 still being buggy. If you’re okay with that, then good for you. However I am not and I will not accept that as being the bar. As consumers we deserve the content we bought and it be playable. Just because they failed one iteration that gives them the pass to fail another? What? I honestly can’t comprehend how you can do the mental gymnastics to justify them failing the community like this.

When a game needs nraas or mccc to actually function like it was promised to, then we have a big problem. The modders shouldn’t be doing Maxis’ job for them. They need to get themselves into gear and fix the game. This isn’t just me either. If you look at the forums, or even news websites for The Sims, the fanbase are not happy; and for good reason, too.

I haven't even bought Strangerville yet. LOL.

Sadly those people need to invest in a more powerful pc or a cheaper console. Consoles will continue to get more packs cause their 64 bit and their cheaper then PCs. Only things missing from consoles are the gallery and cc/mods. The first one is being worked on.

Also you can now play with keyboard and mouse on the consoles so there is no reason not to consider them.

Strangerville was released on Feb 26th. It really hasnt been long since then. It's just that it was a gp that doesnt add much gameplay. If that had been a EP released in Feb, with several big new features, people would be more occupied playing that game.

I think that Strangerville should not have been the next release after Get Famous. Should have been something more feature rich @nerdfashion

I think the June Expansion will bring a feature rich pack.
