That is their job and technically they are refusing to do their job (if it was any other job, you can be fired for refusing to do so). People wouldn't care so much if they had to pay for the game themselves like everyone else.
I say if people really want to do be political, do it on their own time. That goes for all jobs and businesses as there is a time and place for everything.
That's pretty much my reason for taking issue with it. Any GC that gets the game pack for free, and then opts to "voice their dissent" by participating in this "boycott" (so to speak) is more of a >:) >:) >:) than EA/Maxis, imo. At least EA/Maxis is suffering the consequences of their choice (no money from selling the pack in Russia).
Now, if they are declining the free pack, that's a different story, and I fully support and applaud their choice to do what they think is right at their own expense. But if they are doing it while still getting the pack for free, they are grandstanding or showboating, to score political points for themselves...while still collecting their "rewards" from the other side. Not cool.
