if they changed the cover then it could sell it there because of the law in Russian.
They don't even have to do that, it's already 18+ in Russia and that law is more for minors. Russia didn't tell them to ban it or change it given the rating it has (at this point, EA should know that), EA did so themselves. That is why I still think the situation is more complex than what they are saying/not telling us the truth (probably more to do with sanctions and the current situation going on) and I doubt people deciding to buy or play the pack or not will change it. Otherwise, they would reversed the decision by now.
Though it would be nice for EA to be more transparent. - g01denswan4 years agoRising AceSo let me see if I got this right…
Law makers think that being gay is wrong so they create laws to ban same sex marriages and the promotion of same sex marriages in their country
EA thinks the laws are wrong so they won’t sell the pack in that country
Game changers think that EA’s decision is wrong so they won’t make any videos using the pack
So same sex couples can now not only not get married or play the wedding pack, but also not see any videos using the pack. And all this is somehow for the benefit of non-heterosexual couples in that country? "XxAirixX;c-18059773" wrote:

See my comment on the last page :)I've seen quite a few people explain that the Russian law means that any content IN the game is fine as it's rated 18+, however they can't show it on the cover because under 18's can see that.
It's the same as how games in the west can't show explicit content on the cover, but they can show it freely in the game with an 18 rating (ie some video games have nudity in them. They cannot put that on the cover, but that content is allowed in the game because of the 18+ rating). Obviously not saying LGBT content is equal to nudity/sexual content but that's how Russian law regards it- breezy95924 years agoSeasoned AceIt's started because of the law ---- in Russia because it violates the country's “gay propaganda” law) for the cover of two women getting married.
this got the Gamepack banned.. - SimmerGeorge4 years agoSeasoned Ace

@g01denswan According to people who have explained it already EA could have released the pack easily with a 18+ tag on the cover and some minor changes like with all their other sims games and packs, yet they decided to not release it because of the laws as they claimed but a lot of people believe representation is much more important than censorship due to laws that a game company cannot change and people in Russia need gay representation more than ever.
After letting EA know about this they still not only never replied but they started muting all chat channels on streams and hiding behind excuses.
You can't blame the game changers for not releasing videos because then people in Russia can't experience the pack through the reviews but not blame EA for not releasing the pack itself. It contradicts itself. "Horrorgirl6;c-18059729" wrote:

I think its fine for gamechangers to stand by what they believe in and make their own decisions whether to review the packs or not. I just wish they had the same view when it came to the Japanese and the Snowy Escape controversies. I really think that was unfair to the Japanese and all players since it was an optional action. Though I do know there are mods that allow it to return in game. I really dislike it when EA takes sides and cuts content for some, especially when they make it optional and promote they are "inclusive".
To be fair this was more an a extreme case.Where a whole country excluded.
Yeah but for SE the content (but only a few aspect) was cut for players around the globe, can only be bypassed by mods. But still I dont mean to compare or derail the thread. Both situations are unfair.- JaggidEdje4 years agoSeasoned Ace

Let's get one thing straight. The content GCs create is their own property and they don't owe anyone anything.
The same can be said for the game pack and EA choosing to withhold it in Russia. So you aren't giving them the high ground with that "clarification".
@Elliandre is just saying that she disagrees and why she disagrees with their choice, the same as they are saying they disagree with EA/Maxis. She isn't even saying she disagrees with what they want from EA/Maxis, only what they are doing to get what they want.
I think she has a valid point. I also think the GCs do. Sometimes both sides of a controversy can have valid points. "jpsulsuldagdag;c-18059728" wrote:
Oh well that is sad. I wanna see reviews before buying it, I mean after seeing the livestream I'm now unsure of getting it. Hopefully lilsimsie will show her content?
They didn't reveal everything in the livestream cause they were saving it for game changers and its looking like we may not get a preview Tomorrow.- SimmerGeorge4 years agoSeasoned AceHey guys,
So as you know a lot of the very big EA Gamechangers (Plumbella and so on) have decided not to cover the new pack and not post reviews, let's plays etc.
Now, you don't have to agree with them and you can openly express disagreement with their decision but I have seen a lot of comments in the forums saying that the Gamechangers are withholding content from people or that this is some kind of blackmail towards viewers and even that they should be kicked off the program.
I understand your frustration but
First, the content they create is free for all viewers and they had neither promised the content nor had we paid them in advance to make content for this pack. As far as I understand most of us watch their content for free, knowing that they will post whatever they feel like posting. They do not owe you anything. They are allowed to create any type of content they want and it is 100% their property, not the viewers'.
Then, people are mentioning that since they are getting the pack for free then they are obligated to make content for it. That could be true but we don't know the exact circumstances. Unless you have read their contracts with EA you cannot know what responsibilities they have to fulfill so my tip for you is to stay out of it. This is between them and EA and we as bystanders don't have any knowledge to be making accusations.
Finally, some people's behavior in this forum is unbelievable. You cannot go around public forums calling people hypocrites, accusing them of blackmailing you or saying they should be kicked off the Gamechangers program. That is neither constructive nor a decision you have the power to make.
So, while we all have the right to express our opinion it is very important to remember that we have no right to be telling creators what to do and how to act especially when we get their content for free and they have no obligation towards us. - SimmerGeorge4 years agoSeasoned Ace

Ofc you can say that. EA can choose to withold the pack from Russia, nobody is forbiding them of doing it but people are on their own accounts deciding not to support EA's decision.
Both parties have their freedom to do whatever they decide and that is their decision and only theirs. But if the Gamechangers don't agree with that decision why should they support the product?
So I don't see how this invalidates my point.
