General feedback to TS4 Staff

I have been playing TS4 since before when it was back on Origin.

Since I can't see any options to speak to a member of the TS4 team, I'm leaving my feedback here.

I have not bought a single thing for TS4 since Life or Death. I have spent approximately $970 USD over the years on this one game. My EA app isn't counting the hours I've played when it was on Origin, but it reads at around 8k hours. I have about 4k mods and CCs on my computer right now. But I have not even opened up my game since the in-game ads, purchase suggestions, and moolah has been introduced. And I won't spend another dime on this game until the intrusive in-game ads are gone.

I am what the people in the industry call a "whale" in terms of what I purchase for games. I spend a lot, and regularly, on the games I like to see. But I'm not interested in seeing ads or suggestions for packs while I'm playing. I'm not interested in games that have these microtransaction models and intrusive marketing. That's not the experience I want to have, and it's not what I'm paying for.

Please send this feedback up the chain to whoever makes these kinds of decisions.

  • EA is notorious for its use of microtransactions and monetization, whether you agree with those practices or not. Also, you're not the only "whale" playing The Sims 4; I and plenty of other players have spent considerably more than you have over the years.

As for the "intrusive ads," these aren't random third-party advertisements being shoved into the game. They're promotions for other Sims 4 products and content. You can certainly dislike them and feel that they shouldn't be there, but I think describing them as some extreme form of intrusive advertising is a bit exaggerated.

Personally, when it comes to microtransactions, I simply don't buy what I don't want. That's how I choose to spend my money. If you choose not to play the game or spend any more money because of these promotions, that's entirely your choice. Nobody is stopping you.

I know what you're probably thinking: "Why do you care? You're not an EA employee." Frankly, because I do care about the game. However, I don't think spending more money than the average player gives someone's opinion extra weight. You've chosen to spend nearly $1,000 on The Sims 4, and that's your choice. Other players who have spent less are still just as entitled to their opinions. At the end of the day, we're all customers, and everyone's feedback is equally valid.

  • WrenWildhunt, Unfortunately the only way to get rid of the intrusive ads is to play offline. The EA app makes it more difficult to play offline. I will say Origin made it much easier. I wish we could control how much ads we encounter. I keep getting ads for the "Journey to bloatware" as I refer to the pack. For some reason, the algorithm thinks I will change my mind about it. For people who refuse to purchase certain packs the algorithm can frustrate you.

You posted this on a forum, though. If you put your feedback on a public forum, you're going to get responses from other members of the community.
