Generations?

I don't understand generations much and how they work. I was wondering... I have a legacy I'm playing and my family just welcomed their second child. Is that considered the third generation or still in the second generation? Thanks in advance.

Still second generation. When the children of your Sims start to have their babies, so it will be third generation and so on. :)

I would also suggest looking at the family tree, it's a helpful visual of how the generations break down.
