For me it is worth the money and time. For once I finally experienced a proper well thought not rushed celebrity system. That alone makes it worth it, alongside with the reputation system that I am hoping for return since The Sims 2. We do have in Sims 3, but it is romance focused. So having proper celeb system that you can keep track of is great. The acting career has the best representation imo of acting to real life. Instead of a daily job like in Late Night, acting in 4 has depth.
I know for others doing tasks repetetively is not a great design choice and boring, but for me it is this moments that makes me feel closer to my sims. While its just click this object and do animation, that is what we do in the game all the time, so I don't see it anywhere, the fact that I can see them doing acting and guiding them and watching their succes and failures already makes me happy. Add the challenge in of being famous and quirks that adds challenge to a sims personality then I think I got a very worthwile pack. I am dissapointed in the size of the world, but I am giving the environment team points for making the world looks good.
I also love the Music Production table and the ability to use the music you created in the DJ booths
