It is so ironic that before Get Together released we said it would be the worst expansion pack ever and now we prefer it over Get To Work XD
Get To Work was great in idea, but they blew it on implementation because of the active careers relying on those idiotic task lists. I was tired and fed up with the task lists within a couple days of playing. It reminded me too much of the "to-do" missions for a RPG game. Since I was initially drawn to the Sims franchise for the open sandbox play, RPG features don't appeal to me. I've never tried the retail aspect because after reading other player's input on how it falls short of OFB, I just wasn't interested.
Get Together seems to be working much better for players because it goes back to offering what players want. Flexibility. Choices. It still has a long way to go, but I feel a small bit more hopeful about Sims 4 when I think about Get Together in comparison to Get To Work. Now I'm just waiting to see what more will come in 2016. I'm not as discouraged as I used to be, but neither am I really enthusiastic about this version. I'm more in a "wait and see" mode now.
Exactly why I hated Get To Work, I thought it was a SIMULATION GAME not a DO THIS AND DO THAT GAME!
I must say, though, it's so much fun when you do level up, your sim is doing something fun. And I'm really getting a kick out of the science career. It makes me laugh because I have full control over how my sim proceeds. My scientist is funny and does really terrible/funny things to his fellow scientists. Idk...you don't have to do it, but I think it's fun, too. Not much different than Sims 3 World Adventures when you traveled to the different countries.
