Thanks everyone. I decided to get Get Together for now, and so far it seems to have been a good choice. My family had been living on the 50x50 lot in Willow Creek (Oakenstead), in a house I built, so what I did was copy my house to the library (I have put a lot of work into that house, including four money trees), so I didn't want to lose that. I did upgrade to a 64x64 lot in Windenburg, I moved whatever family was living in the 64x64 lot on the island and bulldozed the house that was there.
I also am currently starting a romance between the oldest teen boy in my family and Morgan Fyres (I was surprised by how pretty she already is). There do seem to be a lot of possibilities for pair offs for the children as they get older, so that is good. I think the next thing is just getting them out to see different parts of the town (it's only been one sim day so far).
