Getting massive lag after sim completes any action.

All my sims will stand in complete stasis at the end of any action. It's like they freeze for 20-40 minutes of sim time before moving on to the next action in their queue. Even the maid does it, and the butler I just hired went to clean up a pile of dishes, then they cancelled out of her hand and she stood there twitching. I got my sim to tinkle her bell, and got the message that the butler can't complete the action, so please provide appropriate items to allow her to complete it. My sim then could use the sink and dishwasher. It's a massive house on a massive lot, with 2 kitchens and 2 separate bar areas, and 2 washing machines. And it's happening on both my MacPro and my PC, as I have TS4 installed on both. I have recently been looking for mods to help the game run smoother, because the lag was terrible before, but there is still lag and various problems like this and I just can't figure it out. I have a good graphics card and an SSD drive in the PC and the MacPro is pretty awesome...I just don't get it.

  • These are the things I look at when I'm having issues, maybe something in this list might be of help.

Lag can be caused by routing errors - when things have been placed by using the move objects cheats, or simply there is just way too much stuff on the lot. I recalled once that I downloaded an apartment complex from the gallery, and the lag to this lot was horrible. It was because the creator just had way too much stuff on this lot.

There are some files you can safely delete that might help with game issues, including this problem. Here is a link that goes into which files you can delete.

If you have a mod that is either outdated or is conflicting with another mod, this can causes issues as well.

I imagine this is your problem. Even pretty beefy gaming computers have problems with massive houses on massive lots with lots of stuff. And if MOO was used heavily, that could be adding too the problem. I'd say, see if that save lags in a more reasonably sized house/lot and if not, you know it's the house. If it still does, I'd start looking to other things.
  • If I play a massive house on a massive (for me community) lot I have issues also. Not quite as bad as that but bad enough for me to not play it that way. I'm not talking size massive. It has to do for me with how many objects are there. So if it's a multistory building basically taking up a huge lot with multiple objects on it like fountains ect. I have noticeable lag. To put in in some perspective though none of the Maxis made big community lots give me lag like that. Nor the bigger houses for that matter.
It is too much for either of your systems I'm betting. Go to a smaller lot and see if there is a difference. If you still have the pausing issue then maybe it's something else.
  • That's great advice actually...they have a cinema and a games room which even has a roller rink...and a 5 roomed basement with just crates in each room...but there is a lot of stuff...I just really love that house. Think I'll save some of the rooms in my library and delete them from the lot. Thank you all!
