Getting (Re)Started

I’m in the process of deciding to fire up my TS4 again. If you haven’t been in that position lately, you may have forgotten just how many decisions go into starting a new Sims game.

Will I make a single Sim or a family? Male or Female? Which job will they have? Where will they live?
Maybe I’ll try a legacy. Or one of the premades.
A geek that can start out as a tech guru and then maybe move to scientist. Or should I try a vet as I’ve just been given Cats and Dogs.
Long Lifespan or Normal?

So share some Sims love and tell me what you do (or would maybe think about doing) if you had to start all over again.
Also, anything new in the last couple of months I should know about?

  • I restart constantly, so I feel you there. And if you use mods, definitely check for updated ones. I can't do long, instead, I use a modified Normal thanks to MCCC. I usually play my own sims, though I do have a save that is for all my tray sims AND premades lol. Just remember that you can have many saves, so you can change your mind at any time! ;)
  • Cheers WildIrishBanshee. I only use MCCC myself and first things I did to get ready were to update the game in Origin and download the latest MCCC.
Strangely, though I have a lot of fun with them for months at a time, once I have left a game I never seem to return to it. It’s a bit weird.
  • I do the same thing - for me, I feel like I've lost the thread...I have NO idea what I was doing with them, where they were going etc. I really need to track them better lol.
  • I didn't play any computer games for about a year because of health issues. Not going to get into that - anyway I also just started playing again the other day, and actually picked up where I left off! I'm only the second generation of the family I'm playing. First gen was a gay guy who adopted a girl with his husband, and now she's the one I'll be following. I updated all my stuff, including MCCC which is the only mod I use, and I'm actually having fun without starting completely over!

Now the only issue I'm having is finding a boyfriend for my Sim. Every time she meets somebody, they end up getting married by MCCC a day or two later. But I don't want to turn that stuff off. So instead I glare at the game and threaten to use the kill cheat to take care of things. Muahahahaha.
  • Lol @DarkSlayer1331, that's why I have marriage/pregnancy off for anyone below Adult...keeps my YA's free!
  • I always ask myself, who was my favourite family from past saves? If I’ve had a long layoff, I like to restart a game with sims I have a fondness for, and maybe try to do a few things differently (careers and such).
  • That sparked some decent ideas So_Money. I might just take a single (was a scientist) Sim that I spent a lot of time dressing and put her somewhere with a punk girl that I enjoyed a lot and round out the household with a male Sim.
  • at the mo after playing 3 or 4 different saves so I've started a new one with the intention of switching between multiple households within the one save.
I find I stick to one career path and usually focus on the sim I created first since they are usually highest skill and that gets a bit boring. If I want to explore different content I find myself torn since I've usually maxed career but can't get the time to do the other stuff I wanna do due to job schedule. Switching to other household members is fine in theory but i go back to main sim without realising :') .
So in the new save, at the moment I have two besties running a bakery / gallery and have got the retail lot to where I want it to be for the most part (with accommodation) and am working towards saving for an apartment to move to (they "live" on an empty home plot).
Once they are sorted and comfortable I will make a new sim to move into town and take a completely different path and get them setup and rinse repeat.
I want to interact my sims with all my past played sims and maybe marry them up somewhere down the line.
I like the idea of, for example, going to the vets and its a sim I made and clinic I setup treating my pet etc, seeing my other families about town and interacting with them.
Also trying to add more variety to my households instead of playing the same way each time for example paint and work early game, I want to try photography or busking straight away.

Lots of "save as" and see how full I can make my world :D
