Seeker of Secrets

I recently created a new Sim for my save, and since she's in PR, I thought giving her the nosy trait and the Seeker of Secrets aspiration is fitting. I wasn't aware of how much fun that aspiration is! So far, she has found ten out of 31 secrets and will very likely leverage a few of them, depending on how the Sims behave. One is already on her black list after telling her "Our club is very exclusive. You don't fit in". The second she finds out that Sim's secret, she'll leverage it 😈

My very favourite secret is Vladislaus Straud's. It's called "Moo-Hoo". The gist: Once upon a time, Vlad had a cowplant he brought to work to attract more customers. But as the cowplant kept growing, its hunger grew, too. Eventually, it started eating customers and Vlad's boss, so he locked it away in a safe place. I think it's random which Sim spills which secret, but I thought that one was especially hilarious 😂

Others I have encountered: hates pickles; believes in Moon Bears; has pool PTSD; is jealous of Grim's elegance; collects socks; returns gifts he doesn't like to the Sim who gifted them; took a space trip as a toddler; washes dishes in bathroom sink every now and then; fantasizes about the stove catching fire because flames are so pretty; left an abandoned dog to its own devices because it had creepy eyes.

I'm having so much fun with this inspiration and the trait! Also, I discover things about my own Sims I didn't know, like one of them being jealous of Grim's elegance. Some of these secrets can be worked into gameplay, too - like the "I return gifts I don't like"-secret, or the sock thing (that Sim is gonna end up with socks on every single outfit, no matter if it looks good or not), and I think with a little bit of imagination and role-playing, the pool PTSD might work, too. And the Grim thing? That Sim is gonna buy the Grimophone next time I play with her so she can meet Grim in person and fangirl over him like there's no tomorrow 😁

  • Thanks for sharing!  I just got L&D last night and began getting my gal who just became a young adult set up to be the Reaper in my game with idea of creating a linage for Reaper himself/herself since Reaper's linage would mark every generation with Reapers mark!  Right now, college with a focus on Ghosts, lots of education before she goes out on her own.  (I aged her up early just for AA and L&D).  Wonder if I can get Reaper to join a romance challenge? I haven't thought through all my ideas.  I think the Seeker of Secrets aspiration might fit quite well with the Reaper career.  I had not thought of this aspiration until now.  😃

I never thought I'd do it, either - I mean, I knew it existed, but it never seemed to fit one of my Sims. It's perfect for this one, though, and the secrets are hilarious.  It may be a deviance-related aspiration, but I think it's rather harmless depending on what the Sims does with it... and I think it fits in well with the Reaper career, too. I mean, Grim would know a few secrets, too :)

  • I had loads of fun with this one, the Sim I used is in the Villain branch of the Secret Agent career and is based on (a slightly less heroic) Black Widow. It's so different from the Sims I usually play but I really enjoyed the gameplay. She rents an apartment in Tomarang and nobody was safe from her secret seeking! She was in and out of unlocked homes too by starting break ins. There was a close shave with the unsuspecting Harjo family who arrived home while she was snooping through their drawers but she managed to escape! I'd highly recommend it if your Sims are always pillars of society like mine are lol.

Mine are usually very nice and upright citizens, too, so having a Sim like that is great fun! She's not evil per se, just very nosy, and since she's in PR, she figures having leverage over others can't hurt. And the secrets are soooo much fun. I actually use one to explain away something that has been annoying me for at least two years at this point: I have this one Sim couple, happily married, both have the loyal trait, their romance bar is as pink as it gets, they treat each other lovingly... but from the very start, they were anxious about having betrayed the other. The option "confess betrayal" pops up constantly; one of them is always out and about stargazing with others when I'm not playing their household. At one point, she even went off to stargaze while I was playing their household, leaving her wife with their fitness club while she met up with some random NPC to do some stargazing.

Now, I still don't understand why this keeps happening. It doesn't make sense, personality-wise. But now my nosy Sim has discovered her secret: she wants to have lots of kids with at least five different partners! This is kinda perfect because it allows me to roleplay that annoying bug, or glitch, or whatever it is into "Of course she's flirty with everybody, she wants to do the 100 Baby Challenge!" I think at one point, I'll just have both of them confess that alleged betrayal, then send them to marriage counseling.

What a strange occurrence for them to want to confess betrayal, but I love it when a new story line comes out just from naturally playing the game!

I do, too :) However, this particular household is getting really annoying. Yesterday I found out that one of them had secretly married a random townie, and I still haven't figured out why - neighbourhood stories are turned off, attraction is turned off... but it does fit with how both she and her real wife have been behaving from the start.
