Getting the butler you want

Something that maybe some of you, like me, didn't think about when hiring the butler. I just spent over 1k simoleons hiring and firing butlers that didn't look like a mess before it dawned on me.

Simply go to map view > manage households > filter for unplayed sims that are not in world. If you remembered your butler's name or what he/she looked like, you can then select them from the list and edit in cas.

Once in cas, you can change everything about them except their traits and age. This way you can do it without using cheats and saves time and money!

NOTE: if changing gender, you may want to change the options in the gender panel. If you changed to female, you would need to change pregnancy settings and such. This is also where fashion preference is located.

Speaking of fashion, you might want to change each of their outfits too since their outfits were created by the game at their creation.

Let me know if this has been helpful below! Thanks and sim your world!

  • Wait, it helps to build friendship with the butler, then they won't be replaced? That would be helpful if true.

I don't know. I'm suggesting it only because I got my same butler back after being friends.

I don't really care what they look like, it's not important for me, they don't work any better whether they look good or not. I also don't care about their sex or age, they can be as old as they are. I wouldn't even want to make a butler of my own and I've never edited them in CAS. I just don't want kleptomaniac butlers, I don't want them to steal my Sims stuff. I always try to find out the butlers traits immediately when I hire her/him and if there's a klepto trait the butler gets fired.
I don't mind any other traits, they can be evil, mean, child haters or whatever else, I can deal with them, sometimes they can even create some funny moments. Klepto butlers are just a huge annoyance for me because I hate all kinds of rearranging things and I don't always even remember what's missing if I find an empty spot in the house. If I do remember and it was some personal object, for example painting etc. it's extra annoying. I like my own Sims to be kleptos, though. They're fun to play with, as long as it's my own Sim who does the stealing. :D

I don't like Evil Butlers. The Toddler, youngest kiddo in that save, was able to determine the substitute Butler was Evil. :open_mouth: Not leaving the kids with her, nope, nope, nope, can't make me do it. LOL

I did discover, however, that my original Butler hadn't left my family's employ. Once a week, he had a day off and was replaced, for that limited time by another butler. So, unless they die, they do get a day off of work. I think that's fair so long as the substitute butler isn't Evil!
  • Butlers are immortal, and they always show up in the same suit, so imho there's not too much to worry about regarding age or look. Traits do matter for butler performance, but that can be an interesting part of the gameplay :)
