@CABAL except I also played far cry, resident evil 7 and other new demanding titles on highest settings also on my gaming laptop. It's just not true that gaming laptops aren't good for gaming. Mine never even gets warm.
The flaw of gaming laptop is its high price, laptop can be as good as desktop for games, but equivalent desktop is much cheaper option. Another problem (unless you're not buying pre-builts) is cleaning it or replacing parts which is more challenging compared to doing it with desktop, but it depends from the model and your competence, anyway finding good laptop parts ain't easy unfortunately.
Though the worst laptops are the ones where you can't install different OS or make dualboot (unless you try to use some workarounds which aren't guarantee to fix the problem), really can't stand Windows 8.1 and 10 and some companies like Lenovo are forcing Windows 10 without ability to replace it last time I checked. That and price (the biggest factor to me since in Japan both laptops and desktop cost a lot) are my only problems with gaming laptops, though I might replace my laptop for work by something much more powerful at some point due to my work.
