Graduated sim not getting a head start in career

My sim struggled in university, was on probation and even got suspended for a term. Yet she persevered and graduated with a B grade. However after graduating and receiving her degree, she applied for...

You're not supposed to pick the default Education career from the job list, but the name of the branch that your sim got a degree for. For example, if they studied psychology to become a professor, there should be a new entry in the job list called "Professor". Look for and click that, not "Education".
