I also wish the world was residential sometimes, but I've found that Glimmerbrook is similar as far as scenery and landscape, so I turned Glimmerbrook from a magical town into a woodland residential area in my game. I took my sim family camping there too (more like log cabin glamping :))

I like your ideas on Glimmerbrook. It does have that sort of vibe to it. Just might have some conversions coming up.
