Graphics Cards

Hi all! Hope everyone is ok. :) I was wondering if I could get some input on graphics cards as I am on the market for a new PC.

I currently play with a 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 750 Ti - DVI, mHDMI, VGA - 3D Vision Ready card. Do any currently available PC's have a graphics card where I would notice a drop in performance from this one? I know that if I went to integrated graphics I would notice a drop in performance, but computers with dedicated graphics are so expensive, and I just want to make sure that there wouldn't be any currently available that are worse than the one I have.

How much worse are integrated graphics anyway? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: Oh, and also, I play with 16gb of ram. Would I notice a drop in performance if I went down to 8? Thanks!

Just about any GPU will be good enough to play TS4, it's not very demanding when it comes to that. It still works on integrated graphics, but yeah, there's a noticeable drop in performance. I use an RTX 2060, and even though it's an older card, it's still overkill for TS4.

Keep in mind that TS4 is very CPU-intensive---if you're buying a pre-built PC, make sure the case is very well-ventilated, or it will run quite hot. Many manufacturers sell prebuilts with a flat front that has no ventilation--don't buy one of those.

And I would consider 8 GB the bare minimum....if it were me, I wouldn't run any less than 16
  • GTX 750 ti is better than a lot of current dedicated gpus in laptops, but in desktops not much, it’s better than low end cards like gtx 1030

For example, your card is better than laptops with non gaming dedicated graphics like mx110, mx130..etc

As for ram, do not go less than 16 gb for sims 4, I’ve seen sims 4 alone using MORE than 8 gb of ram, so you need to leave some ram for your system as sims 4 will reach more than 8 gb if you have all packs
  • @manicobsessive I have a Nvida RTX 4080 founders edition and the sims 4 play on ultra high all the time I also have an I9 11th gen unlocked processor. My boyfriend built my pc and water cooled it to so it runs like a dream also have over 2 terabytes of space and have all packs,EPS and stuff packs as well as all the kits and it is never laggy
  • Thanks for the replies guys. Does anybody know how the MX450 does? Will I see a performance drop with that?

Often when I'm daydreaming of stretching my limited budget to upgrading my GPU I'll google stuff like "GTX 950 vs GTX 1050" and see what the benchmarks say. In the case of a MX450 vs GTX 750 ti they seem to be comprable.
  • I play Sims 4 on a Core i5-3210M (CPU) with an HD4000 iGPU. Not an amazing setup (my computer's from 2012), but that... should be fine. I used to play with 8 GB of RAM but I noticed an insignificant (but noticeable) improvement in performance when I doubled it back in January.
