I've had Growing Together since a couple of weeks after it came out. So it's getting on for about six months now, and I'm realising that I don't think I've ever had any sim phone claiming to be a long-lost relative and ask to stay. I was looking forward to this feature as it might add a bit of random chaos to my game.I can ask other people to stay over in the events calendar. I play multiple households of different ages and sizes in rotation round all the worlds. I probably haven't yet spent a great deal of time in San Sequoia - could that be the reason? Do you need to have spent a while there first? Do you need to do something to trigger a phone call like that? Is this just me?

I've only ever had it happen once when the pack first came out without having to do anything. Haven't been able to get it again, even with constantly researching genealogy on the computer.

I never had it happen. Had the pack for just about 4-5 weeks. I'm keeping detailed family trees of most of my sims, so I can't say I want the game to suggest new relatives. I can handle it if it happens just once, as it won't be a daily thing, obviously. I never saw the guy who everyone had moving in either - I think he was blond, talented with infants and he seemed to be a new NPC with a back story? Well, I don't miss him that much, my game is busy enough, LOL.

@FreddyFox1234 When my sim got the call they were living in Strangerville and hadn't visited San Sequoia at all.

Ah thanks @blueybluesky. That's useful to know at least. So it makes it even stranger that it's never happened in my game.

There's an option to Research Geneology on the computer. This seemed to trigger it for me. I don't think it works if you already have a Stay Over in progress, or start one between researching and the event triggering, as the event itself (once triggered) is a Stay Over event.For me it was a "Cousin" - They had Cousin RelBit, but didn't show in the family tree. Their surname/features matched my researching sim, but they had different colouring, so be sure to research with the household member you want them to be related to. They also had the Erratic trait.. So, it could be that they spawn with interesting archetypes.

@SimAlexandria That’s interesting. I wonder if a particular style of gameplay makes it more likely. Do you play with one household or several? If you play multiple households, how long do you stay with them? Do you play in different worlds? I play multiple households for a week at a time in sequence, with one household in each world that I own. Maybe I haven’t spent enough time with each household yet since Growing Together came out. Have you used the Research Genealogy option on the computer?

I play about 6 households, 3 in Sulani and then three in other worlds. I haven't used the research generator yet. I don't have a set rotation schedule I just play whichever I feel like, but it's pretty even.

@SimAlexandria OK, so playing multiple households and in different worlds doesn’t seem to prevent it happening, which is good to know! Guess I’ll just have to keep waiting…

This has not happened for me since I bought Growing Together, it’s very rare like high school graduations are in High School Years.

I don't know if makes a difference but I don't have any CC and usually play with 0-3 mods depending on the family.

So far the only sleepover I've had was when Justin Delgato came to my sim's house for a few days. I was a little leery, I did not know what to expect. He came over on Monday and left on Friday, and I think he and his wife were having issues, he was always sad. For my sim it was no big deal, he continued with his thing as if he wasn't there. Justin cleaned the house every day, so it was a win-win situation. :D

Go on computer and do web—>research—> genealogy
After some hours or days someone will say they did a dna test and found your sim. Just did it today and after 2-3 hours(in game hours) someone texted my sim

@SelinaKyles I was thinking of relatives but actually I’ve never had anyone ask to stay over, so I don’t really mind who it is — I’d just like someone to do it! I saw others mention about the researching genealogy so I’ve been getting all my sim households to do that but with no results so far. Maybe I haven’t played long enough since doing the research. I’ll keep researching and keep waiting!
