Hair and Makeup for Acting Gig

Is there a fix for the hair and makeup station during an active acting gig? I currently have the issue where the artist will do their thing with powder puff, scissors and hairdryer but the end result is just my Sim (Jenny) as normal.

Funny thing is that regular “fails” will change Jenny’s looks for a brief moment, but then it’s a do over and back to Jenny’s dark, soft bob.
