I wanted Happy Haunts to be a Game Pack. I did vote for it, but I was glad that Knitting won because Happy Haunts has so much great potential to have a GP dedicated to it. However...the same could be said for knitting. A potential Arts and Crafts GP became a knitting stuff pack. I feel it turned out pretty OK for someone who doesn't have any desire to knit...Some arts and crafts elements were spread across different EP's, such as candle making and brewing. It could all have been in one pack, naturally, but by now we must understand that releasing content that way doesn't seem to fit TS4's content release formula.
To me, this looks like a Paranormal Investigator Career Stuff Pack. I'm not interested in merely collecting little cutesy Yamachan blobs which provide nothing else but emotional auras and something adorable to look at. I want my sim to encounter something very scary indeed and above all, try to deal with it. It would be sad if this pack is only catered to the snowflake culture we currently live in. But I won't be surprised if it does.
I could easily live with an entire EP full of in depth dark occult stuff (In fact I want it). Could have been, should have been, perhaps?
But I'm going to save my voice from getting hoarse and wait and see before I begin roaring and shouting...
If this was the Sims3, I wouldn't agree, but in the Sims4, I play different. We are missing graveyards. I want more goth. I had wanted people moving pictures ( Harry Potterish), a real crystal ball, and fortune teller career with the magic pack we got, but sadly it was not there. I want these things, dangerous/ happy haunts, wills, funerals( having, planning( hearse, horse buggy entrance/flowers/ reading of the will/type of casket if tombstone collected(nice, wood box)/type of urn( various types including genie type which will bring them back as a genie) or gravestone (double, leaning old, cute, old looking), attending, invites to attend Sims you know, death flower on graveyard property, an afterlife world's(Simhaven/cloudland with cloud houses only good things/ bad sim world with no good things. Bad sims can never escape.)
I think the Yamachan blobs are cute and fit in with the snowy world, but in my ideas of ghost, they don't figure in. I'm not a ghost person, but I would want my ghost pack realistic. If it's like what's shown in that picture only, I just don't see myself buying it. I play realistic, not silly. Ghost busters and Star Wars are films I watch, but I won't buy games of them. The silly ghosts from ghost busters would break my immersion. Simmers want content that enhances Sims life, not junk from movies. If EA wants to do that, then why not make a separate game, Playing with Movies? Just like with Midevil.
I won't say anything either, but with Batu, left out underwater world/houseboats, no fortune teller/crystal ball/moving pictures in a "magic" pack, and pets being completely split, I don't expect good things. No graveyards and no real infants after this long??? That's horrible to me. I don't always agree with what simmers say should've been in the basegame, but these both should have been and were in the Sims3. They should go back and study the Sims3, that was a great game (when you play it on a compatible computer with no cc & mods which many didn't even after knowing that all of that caused issues). When you bought a Sims 3 EP, you bought something worth the money. They were so jam packed with stuff and stuff to do that I never complained about what was/wasn't in them except hammocks should've been in Island Living. That's why there's so much complaining. Themes not asked for, movie tie ins not asked for, and packs with a 10th of their Sims3 counter parts. Happy Haunts/dangerous/ afterlife asked for; silly ghosts put in a career pack not asked for, not wanted. I hope there's a bunch more and it makes it worth it, but I think the picture days it all. I think stuff packs need to end and EP/game packs need to be stepped up. When you play/ buy a Sims game, you should know you have to buy to add onto it as it's not like other games and that takes money to pay $20-40. I know for a fact that stuff packs in the Sims4 have more than the Sims3, but it's still disappointing to ask for dangerous/happy haunts which needs to be an game pack/EP because they don't put the content in the Sims4 like they did the Sims3, plus there's always filler content which takes away from the pack. To put a neglected theme in a stuff pack is a horrible move. I just wonder whose deciding on these packs? Some like Snowy are good and some like Batu and putting a highly requested theme in a extremely limited stuff pack is bad for business.
