Has roommates been added to the game?

The reason I'm asking is that something is going on in my game. I am not playing the tutorial, but a game save that I have had for a few months now. In this game save I started a new sim, and moved her into a home in Willow Creek, in the same neighborhood as the BFF household. Travis Scott, Liberty, and Summer Holiday all came over to welcome my sim to the neighborhood, Summer brought the fruitcake. The visit went as usual and good. Then when the time was up all three sims left, but Summer showed back up, and stayed. She cooked herself a meal, played on the computer, watched TV, and several other things. My sim got tired and went to bed, and before I forget my sim is living in a 2 bedroom home, with 2 full beds. Anyways my sim went to bed, and shortly after that Summer changed into her sleepwear and went to sleep in the other bed. Have roommates been added to the game, or is something else going on? I don't have Get Famous yet.
