After all they'd already advanced their teen aged romance to "promised". (In reality, he was just sixteen and she fifteen when they married. That's not possible in this game, so I have to fudge things a bit.)
Needless to say having her age up to YA before him was off-putting. I just couldn't reconcile myself to this. (Having made so many concessions already.) I ended up starting them anew in a brand new game save. I also made quite certain before I played either household, that the length was set to Long. So, be careful what you wish for, when it comes to such "invites". Also, some of us took nearly the entire first two years before our Sims got abducted. Since this is a life-simulator (of sorts), all I can say is life isn't always fair.
Maybe you already know this and I'm just stating the obvious but, Sims birthday parties are scheduled at random and if you don't go to them, the age up will NEVER occur!
I know this for a fact, I have gotten many invites and only gone to maybe 1/10... And have checked/ known age up times for birthday sims in question. (Mines on Normal for the ones I allow.)
