Have sims always been able to fall asleep in a chair?

My sim was just sitting up, blowing some cosmic encounter bubbles when he falls asleep with a +10,000 nap moodlet. Never seen a sim fall asleep sitting in a chair and I'm wondering if it was added in ...

Yep, been around since release. I remember playing the asylum challenge right after release and my sim missed out on a getting a bed and I was blown away when she went to a chair and napped. ETA: They also fall asleep during a bath. That bugs me, as I like my sims to take a bath and then they'll fall asleep when I don't want them to.
