So, here's the story. According to my "rules," I'm not allowed to intervene, and I've got a toddler who is sitting on her bed, having called out to her grandpa, waiting for him to come and pick her up. Unfortunately, he's just gone to sleep, and won't hear her. I have no idea if she's going to just sit there until he wakes up, or if she'll be taken away due to neglect, because she is Ravenous and has 13 hours left.I should say right now there are situations in which I'm allowed to intervene. If she uses her diaper, then I can cancel the Go Potty action and make her get food instead. But I can't cancel the Wake Up action, so I don't know if that will work. Her grandpa went to sleep autonomously, so one of his needs gets to yellow or lower, I can tell him to take care of that need, and that might cancel out the Wake Up action, or he might tend to the toddler first.I'm just curious, though. Have any of you had a child taken away? What caused that to happen in such an easy game? Was it due to a "rule" you had, or maybe a glitch, or maybe you did it for a story? Let's hear about it!

I've never had a child taken away in the game. Just like deaths that aren't from old age, I'm way too cautious to let it happen.

Back when the nannies were even more super glitched than they are now, my sims held a wedding at home. I hired a nanny to care for the toddler Right when they were doing their vows the game gave me the ravenous warning. No, never. I cheat way too much to let that happen. Any time a toddler's hunger bar gets in the orange, I either teleport them to some food or cheat their hunger need back to green.

I've never had one taken away, but I get the warning a lot. As soon as it pops up, I take care of my toddler/baby. It's almost always hunger, and I put out a plate somewhere, then direct the toddler to eat. If there are any leftovers in your fridge, I'd recommend setting them on a counter or table, and doing the same. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

In TS2, I had a sim unfairly lose her Child to the worthless social worker just because she was a singe mother who worked nights and left her kid alone overnight. She had leftovers in the fridge to eat, she wasn't dying or anything, but the game decided to moralize at me anyway for playing a very realistic family scenario...detestable social worker!! I'm so glad that doesn't happen in TS4, because that was just plain wrong!!

Once but i did not save it, I wouldnt intervene had the baby being taken away is actually still exist in the game, but nope they are just deleted from the game.

Not since the Sims 2 - I learned my lesson well so I make sure all the kids stay happy and never lonely. I lost a toddler in Sims 2 because of loneliness so now i make sure they have plenty of attention.

It probably happened some of the first times I played with a family in the game. I do remember getting the warning, at least. It was probably triggered by having the baby in a cradle too far away from where the parents were in the house, which must have been quite big. I think I didn't notice the baby was crying (blue avatar).
But as far as I know I've not got that far with a toddler, since they are often more mobile and can take care of some of their own needs themselves.

-Every 8 hours babies need feeding, as 10-30 minutes after that mark babies will start crying for being hungry.
-Between every 6-8 hours babies need attention given to them, and on occasion you'll have to move that off schedule to bring it back on schedule for a later feeding session.
-Soiled nappies are often random.

It is that simple in game to plan your actions. if the child was fed at 8am, then the next feeding session is 4pm, so plan within 2 hours around that time, same again for 12am and again the day after at 8am. if you are late for work, then you are late for work, otherwise take the risk and letting a nanny deal with the child and dealing with the often unreliable autonomy priority.

I had an infant taken once. He was one of my first ever twins born in game. My sim fed them both and proceeded to the kitchen to get her own meal when the hunger notification popped up. By the time I told her to turn around and go back to try and feed him again he was gone. It must’ve been a glitch.
